LIFE SENTENCE FOR TWO KURDISH CITIZENS FROM SELMAS

Criminal court of Selmas sentenced two Kurdish citizens to life in prison on an accusation of helping the PJAK, Free Life Party of Kurdistan. According to numerous reports, since last year more than 20 Kurdish citizens of Salmas have been sentenced to imprisonment.

According to the reports published on SalmasNews’ blogspot, the criminal court of Selmas sentenced 38 year old Sabir Mamedi, son of Esed, and 40 year old Nezmin Heydari, son of Sultan to life in prison. Both citizens are from the village of Direk.

The two citizens have been arrested by the security forces of Salmas and their houses were searched this year in April.

Reports state that in the past, Iranian security forces arrested Sabir Mamedi under the accusation of having relationships with the PJAK, resulting in a sentence of 3 years in prison. Sabir Mamedi is the cousin of Ilham Mamedi “Reza Ismaili”, the Kurdish political prisoner who was executed on the 26th October in 2013. He was put to death in the prison of Selmas.

The lawyer of the names above stated that they denied any accusations and complaints regarding torture, misbehavior and solitary confinement. The accusations against these two people were announced as cooperation with the PJAK, Free Life Party of Kurdistan.
